We use Blackbaud eTapestry in our day to day fundRaising activities. We use it to store supporter information, document donations, run queries and reports, compose and send communications and to make bank deposits. This software system supports all of our fundRaising needs in one software system.

Blackbaud eTapestry is very easy to use and is user friendly. Credit card transactions can be made seamlessly. Recording data has never been easier!

The program is also fully customizable for data fields. If you have volunteers, different affiliates, personal information or anything in particular you want to track, you can!
  • Easy of use for data entry
  • Simple to create queries and compound queries
  • Reports are fully customizable and can be run on or off hours
  • Auto processing of credit cards
  • Data fields are easy to populate with donor information
  • Importing and exporting of information including deposits
  • Integration with QuickBooks
  • Acknowledgement letter creation and storage
  • Would like to see a better integration with website forms. At this time, they are not as customizable as one would like.
  • Mobile giving needs to be a priority to be added seamlessly.
  • Accuracy of the email and social media finder is subpar.
  • Wealth screening cannot be trusted. Could be for the wrong person with the same name.
  • Price point for the database itself is high for small organizations and has dramatic increases.
  • Credit card and processing costs and the payment enablement fee of $600 a year is unacceptable.
Blackbaud eTapestry is a fantastic program for small organizations. The functionality is easy to use. All fields can be customized and affiliations can be created for ease of queries and reporting. It is well suited for organizations that have 10,000 records or less. If you are looking at tracking education related information, such as student information and not fundRaising related, this is not the program for you. It is strictly a fund development and fundRaising database that houses pertinent donor information versus activity tracking. Fields are customizable, and that is fantastic, depending on what you intend on doing with the information. If you are considering Blackbaud eTapestry to do social interactions, find emails and coduct wealth screenings, do not trust all the information you receive back. We found that the email and social finders were not accurate, and neither were the wealth screenings. For some constiuents it worked, but the vast majority, we were better off contacting the donor and gathering information that way.

We use Blackbaud's eTapestry on a daily basis to track and record information about our constituency. The eTapestry program is ideal for a small organization such as ours. It allows for queries and reports needed in order to conduct business. Without eTapestry, we would be lost.
  • Daily, we are entering data about our partners in mission. We use that data to create queries and to run reports. eTapestry has made our work easier.
  • Our processes are now streamlined with eTapestry. We know what we need daily, weekly, monthly, etc. and eTapestry gets the work done for us.
  • Deposits and credit card transactions are easily managed by eTapestry.
  • We conduct a lot of donor visits. It would be nice to have a mapping option to layout donors in a certain area and map out the visits, rather than us using Google.
If you are an organization with less than 10,000 constituents, eTapestry is the program for you. It is easily managed for small nonprofits and the support for technical issues is good. Blackbaud has a whole online knowledgebase and educational videos to help you learn what would be best for your organization.

Blackbaud eTapestry is my go to for all CRM within our organization. We keep track of all donations, donor details and prospective donors. By using reports/queries I can supply my Board with financial information within a couple of minutes and I can decide what information they see from account names to recognition names and first donation amount to lifetime donation amount. eTapestry also allows me to send on-off emails or mass communication emails to select accounts and I can add a journal entry at the same time which makes my work life so much easier.
  • CRM
  • Support both via phone, email or chat function
  • Customer Service
  • Invitations to webinars for both their product and partners
  • Information regarding changes to eTapestry and requirements from outside partners
  • The initial training was not enough and the end user had to pay for extra training hours
  • It can be confusing as to where to find certain information regarding your eTapestry login details as you need to log into Blackbaud to do some things. It would be easier if it could be done through eTapestry.
  • Email templates are very basic and could use an upgrade. I know that I can use another partner, but that is an additional cost
As we are a small Foundation with only one Administrative Assistant, eTapestry is perfect for me to keep all of our CRM. Once I got used to how it worked, I found it to be user friendly. If I have any problems, I can either try to find the answer for myself in the extensive library, chat to support or email our Customer Service Representative with questions. I cannot fault either the Support team or Customer Service Representatives I have dealt with over the years as all of them have been knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would prefer to have better options within the Email section as the templates are very basic. There is another option to use an eTapestry partner, but there are additional costs involved in that. The email templates are OK to use if you wish to send quick information to your database.

We used eTapestry as a donor CRM. We gained and tracked donations, as well as other communications, financial, and demographic data about current and prospective donors. I was the primary user, but the product was already in place when I joined the organization. WE also used it to send some donor communications out, from invitations to thank you notes.
  • Donor tracking
  • Donation tracking
  • Storing information to segment donor communications
  • Email capability could be improved
  • The interface could be updated
  • Needs more capabilities around soft credits and sustaining gifts
Overall Blackbaud eTapestry is a really solid CRM option for nonprofits with a mid-sized budget. It's a great younger/less powerful cousin of some of Blackbaud's even more popular products. If you haven't considered it yet, check it out! It's nice because it is specifically made for fundraising and designed with our needs in mind.

I use it to track donors and donations to our nonprofit.
  • basic gift transactions
  • ACH payments
  • online giving forms are dated in look and feel
  • event management/tracking tools are too basic
  • queries and reports are not user friendly
Blackbaud eTapestry was fine for a starter database and is relatively inexpensive. These days even small nonprofits need more modern and user-friendly platforms, whether it's through Blackbaud or another company. Also the customer service is slow to respond and sometimes just plain unhelpful, it has seemed that Blackbaud has been dialing back resources put into eTapestry and perhaps putting them towards their other database solutions.

I use Blackbaud eTapestry to monitor & input donations & deliver information relevant to donors, prospective donors, volunteers. We are challenged with donors not always able to receive to their email addresses a donation receipt or our newsletter communications. PCSBV does not clearly understand how to operate registration for some events. We need to understand better the full capacity of what was purchased for our charitable organization. We have a future meeting with a Blackbaud consultant to ask questions.
  • Record donations & notes
  • Produce reports
  • Provide donor information
  • Pulling reports does not feel intuitive. We struggle to execute compiling the details we need.
  • Managing Event information
  • Deleting duplicate constituent information
Well suited for donations less appropriate for events

I use Blackbaud eTapestry to help create appeal letters to be emailed out to contacts. The product is useful for cataloging information and providing analytics.
  • Storing and managing donor information
  • Providing analytics
  • Managing information on contacts
  • The system isn't intuitive
  • Email templates are bulky and not easy to use
  • Limited design capabilities for email letters
Managing our contacts has been helpful. Example, if myself or a colleague meets with a contact we can record the particulars of that meeting and draw on it to build an account of our relationship with them.

Etapestry has not been well suited for creating appeal letters or emails. The design work generally needs to be done outside of the program then a lot of time gets spent trying to make that fit into a pre-existing template, or rejigging the design to suit the limited design capacity of Etapestry.

I use it for tracking donations from individuals, corporate sponsors and grants. I use it to send out mailings for tax receipt purposes and we use it for our newsletter distribution. We also use the notes section to keep track of who we call, send thank you letters to and for information about the donor.
  • Tracking donations
  • An improved newsletter system with auto save
  • Less emails sent to user of eTapestry by Blackbaud
  • More intuitive systems that are easier to navigate
Blackbaud eTapestry used to be more affordable, but now with the addition of an annual $600 enablement fee, it puts it out of reach for some nonprofits. eTapestry is their older system, but the new one is well over $7,000 a year, probably even more now, and not affordable to smaller nonprofits. eTapestry has the basics that we need, and we have used it for multiple years, we are just disappointed that the cost has gone up so much without a lot of improvements.

ETAP tracks all information regarding donations and donors toour school.
  • very clearly presents all donor info, for example their addresses etc...
  • Has ability to report on a wide variety of information.
  • Clearly connects journal entries (donations) to donors as well as pledge information.
  • email templates
  • DIY templates
  • ease and simplicity when it comes to running even basic reports.
Blackbaud eTapestry was definitely trusted to manage all of our data. Super powerful when it came to its ability to run complicated reports. But hard for other staff members (who might not have been "experts") to run any reports. Required extensive experience and knowledge to be able to run simple reports. Wasn't so good with setting up and editing email templates or DIY forms.

Blackbaud eTapestry is the backbone of our data services. From managing donor and membership records, to maintaining accurate records and notes, eTapestry is a great product for small to mid-sized non-profit organizations. While we do not currently have eTapestry connected with any products other than Constant Contact, the ability to import information makes for an easy adjustment. We rely on this product heavily for reporting purposes and is critical to our success as an organization.
  • Import gifts and information to donor record.
  • Quickly report on various segments.
  • Communicate effectively with our support base.
  • The addition of second most recent gift as a data field, as after running an import the gift just imported is now the last gift, would be a nice addition.
  • The ability to import information into personas for quick updates during gift import would be a nice improvement.
  • It would also be nice if the ability to send a communication to an externally imported list of just emails, rather than querying on donor records.
  • The ability to have more record space without the need to purchase additional records. This will eventually cause us to outgrow eTap.
Blackbaud eTapestry is well suited for an organization of our size (mid sized) to effectively manage our donor database. Because we generate most of our mailings in-house, eTapestry makes to generation of these segmented lists easy. While there are capabilities that take time to learn, this software is fairly easy to obtain a simple mastery of. If your organization is large, with a large donor base you will not want eTapestry as there are record limitations, which can be overcome by purchasing additional records, which is a yearly (not one-time) fee.

We use eTapestry as donor, volunteer and contacts management software. eTapestry helps us record all donation history, keep track of pledge payments and also administer prospect management.
  • Donations record
  • Contacts management
  • Donation acknowledgments /tax receipting
  • Sending newsletters
  • Could improve on query building and reporting functionalities
Great software for a medium sized organizations with simple reporting requirements. Its customizability options gives it room to accommodate many features that an organization might need as it grows.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry CRM to track all fund development interactions in a charitable organization. This includes financial journal entries and related communications for all donations, pledges, sponsorships, planned gifts, and grants. We also use Blackbaud eTapestry to link our website donation, volunteer and event forms to the database. We use the query feature to search for information, manage event guest lists, create reports, and create mass emails or letters and receipts. We can track grant status as well. It has been less useful for moves management of prospects than we would like. Outlook integration is useful.
  • Easy search capabilities
  • Improved DIY web forms easy to use
  • Great standard reports and easy DIY queries
  • Easy to handle pledges, upgrade, and reporting to donors on these
  • Moves Management integration is not useful. Needs better prospects tracking
  • Would like a better way to track cultivation visits, tours, and stewardship. Hard to customize event tracking lists
  • Should declutter journal by keeping financial and contact details separate
  • User defined fields are great, but should have the ability to permanently delete unused fields
  • Complex compound queries are not always supported by the system
We find the system works well for a small to medium shop. Easy to handle, quick and customizes well. Generates basic reports well. Auto processing and scheduling is also smooth and easy. Emails can look like spam in some systems. Tracking prospects via moves management and integration with Outlook, especially calendars, could be improved.

Etapestry is our primary donor database manager. We had hoped to use it for other areas, including programmatic/volunteer management (which would include form creation etc.), fundraising via merchant use, and direct and large-scale communications (emails, texts, etc.) but found the platform somewhat lacking in user-friendly dynamics, limitations in creativity, interface with users and donors - still very rudimentary. Our focus in our donor demographic is college age and their families/parents, young alumni, some older alumni and older community members but our primary age range is 18-40. They have a very different view point of how things should "work and look". eTapestry (Blackbaud) was also the most comprehensive and affordable option when we first started, and still has a great comprehensive approach to fundraising and donor management, but the interface is still dated, and we found alternative systems to assist us with our online giving, communications, and volunteer/program dynamics that worked better. However, those systems lack excellent donor management pieces - especially with reporting, tracking, and such. So we are a hybrid of many systems, most of which do not and cannot communicate with each other - but we make it work for now.
  • Ability to tailor our donor information collected.
  • Options to create reports (though not easily done- steep learning curve for a user).
  • Customizable to each user - more options to customize than not.
  • Hard to use. Bottom line.
  • Interface is dated - too technical looking, for some users.
  • Collaboration with other systems is very difficult - to import/export very challenging.
When we began our capital campaign, it was helpful to have a good record of donor engagement to see whom we needed to work with and invite into that relationship - Blackbaud is renowned for its ability to help development directors create best-case scenarios for success with donors based upon their capacity to receive, store and recall data about donors, events, etc. and their impact on fundraising. The cost of any donor management software makes it hard for small non-profits to afford, and again, some of the interface working with a younger clientele makes the less costly, more "attractive," yet less capable platforms for donor management more attractive. Primarily bc small non-profits have not yet moved into the realm of truly examining their donor data and using that data to compel their missions forward.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry as our fundraising and volunteer database / CRM. It is integrated with our website and GoCardless so supporters can sign up to events, make donations and set up direct debits. We also use it to send regular email newsletters to our supporters.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry as a CRM, fundraising mechanism, and reporting system. It helps us communicate with donors, run a variety of reports (one-off and/or regularly scheduled), and keep track of donations for various projects (we have about 45 on the go at the moment). It also allows for many customizations in fields and letter templates.
  • Report Scheduling is great. Reports can be scheduled daily (even on specific days of the week), weekly, or monthly) and auto-emailed.
  • Reports can be displayed on the screen, downloaded, or emailed in CSV, excel, or pdf and can have columns pre-sorted in your preferred order.
  • Online donations are automatically added to the donor's account and automatically create an account for a new donor.
  • Having to set up queries and then set up reports can be cumbersome. There are a lot of settings to consider before you can get the details you're looking for.
  • There's no option to create copies of Standard Reports in order to customize them. Sometimes those Standard Reports have almost everything we need. It would be helpful to be able to add an extra column or two of data instead of having to start queries and reports from scratch.
  • For DIY Forms, there's currently no way to change the order that projects (known in eTap as Funds) display online, except to remove Funds one by one until you reach the spot in the list where you want them. We have about 45 Funds, and in order to add a new Fund closer to the top of the drop-down list, we have to remove most of them one by one, then add in the new Fund, then add the rest of the Funds back in one by one. Having a drag-and-drop option would be very helpful.
When we want to send a mass email to our donors and/or other contacts, Blackbaud eTapestry provides the tools to make it happen. That being said, when someone wants to unsubscribe from one of our email lists, but not all of them, eTapestry does not have a way to do that. If someone hits the Unsubscribe button, it unsubscribes them from everything. So it depends on what your needs are regarding that setting. The DIY Form settings were recently upgraded to allow us to send a different confirmation email based on whether a donor gave a one-time donation or a recurring donation. This is such a valuable option, as we previously had donors contact us to double-check that they had set up a monthly donation online, as the previous confirmation email didn't say (since that setting wasn't available). I'm not sure if the communication templates can distinguish between a monthly, weekly, or quarterly recurring donation, so we removed the weekly and quarterly options from our donation page and directly added "monthly" to the communication template.

We use it to manage donor relations, communications, and fund raising. Keeping track of where we are in relation to revenue goals for reporting to the board of directors is a common task. Making sure we stay in touch with our supporters without missing anyone is very important to us. We plan events and use eTapestry to both invite guests as well as evaluate success.
  • create reports used for managing the organization.
  • Search and find needed data quickly and easily
  • technical support has been outstanding
  • html editor is something I still struggle with, how email looks in eTapestry vs how it displays when sent
Tracking donor information and reports work well. I am new to this software and normally the only person who uses it. Others who use it on occasion are frustrated because they don't understand how to do what they want. I wonder if some of the challenges with documents I have may be that I still need more understanding. Maybe they will solve themselves as I learn. Or maybe they are just not as easy as other products. We some times create documents for email outside of eTapestry because it is easier to get what we want, then import to eTapestry as an image for a mass email.

We use it for donor services management, communication, reporting. We keep track of all donors, how much, when and for which campaign do they give. We also use it to send Mass communication emails and to contact donors individually through email. We also use it to report on our donations for Funds, Campaigns, Annual Reports and more
  • The ability to send mass emails through my level is great.
  • The ability to send individualized emails is helpful.
  • The ability to report on campaigns
  • The ability to create query's of compartmentalized findings.
  • The way mass emails are created.
  • The Creating query process can be difficult without using the Chat button.
  • Creating queries for mass mailings.
  • How you can't correct something across the board once it's loaded to the database.
  • Deleting records is difficult and not user friendly
Reporting of my campaigns TY to LY. The process to get this reporting is very easy.

Being able to send emails to our entire database or to a small specialized group of our donors.

Being able to insert personalized field's into the communications really elevates the letters we write to the donors.

Blackbaud eTapestry is the database we use to maintain information for alums and anyone connected to the school. We use it to log in donations from our benefactors, keep contact information, notes and it allows us to prepare various reports as needed.
  • Create different funds to log in donations
  • Add fields as needed to prepare accurate reports
  • Prepare letters for constituents
  • Preparing letters can be awkward at times and they don't look the way I want them to look
  • I find the Relationships tab useless. Maybe I just don't understand it.

We are a theological school. We use it to keep track of students and their requirements in the program--what they have completed, field placements, personnel working with them each year, etc. We also use it to keep track of our graduates and our donors. In the area of Development, I use it for donor mailing lists, segmentation, merging information into communications, mass emails, recording donations, and for finding information.
  • The technicians available to help on chat do quite a good job.
  • The basic training videos are a good introduction
  • Once you know how, constructing a query or report is relatively easy
  • When I started using eTapestry, you had to pay for courses to learn how to do more complicated things in the database. These courses were fairly expensive and our small organization couldn't afford that. I had to figure a lot out on my own or using the tech folks in chat or the odd free thing. Not sure if the courses are still costly or not.
  • It is not particularly user friendly--for example, you would think the drag and drop email template would be pretty straightforward but it is not! And there aren't built in instructions to help as you try to use things.
  • Figuring out how to organize queries and reports and communications in folders in order to find things again has been challenging. It is possible to search on keywords, which is very helpful. But finding something in a list of queries that is not alphabetical isn't particularly easy.
When I am trying to prepare a mailing list for particular donors, I usually construct a report with any possible information I might need, download it into excel, and sort there. The disadvantage is that you can't put a record of that communication on a donor's account.
However, trying to do this sorting in the database itself is very unwieldy, involving many separate queries. It gets complicated, so I don't usually do that.

Sometimes, I construct a query and look at it in preview only to find it includes things that I have specifically tried to eliminate. I guess the query is not constructed correctly but I don't have any idea how to fix this sort of thing.

We currently use Blackbaud eTapestry to track donations, including how the donation was received, if it is earmarked for a certain purpose, and if it is a memorial or in honor of someone. We also use it to create a variety of mailing lists: newsletters, Christmas cards, and appeals. Recently, I linked it with our Constant Contact account to have better ease of communicating with others. The reports page has also been very helpful in sorting the size of donations and if a person has or has not donated within a specific timeframe. As I am still learning the program, I do foresee using it to maintain better contact with donors by using it to generate personalized letters, either by email or paper mail. As our development department grows, we will also use it to have more specific information under accounts, such as the relationship with the monastery.
  • They have an excellent support team when help is needed via email or a chat.
  • Provide the user with standard reports which saves much time and effort on my part.
  • The interface is user-friendly for the most part.
  • Some of the language and terminology are foreign to users like me; a simple glossary of terms would be helpful.
  • Live classes/webinars are great but are very fast. A recording of those would be nice to review.
  • Sometimes I find quicker answers by googling or using Youtube than Blackbaud eTapestry's help button.
I think it is a great program and has tons of potential for my organization. It has taken me a while to learn it, as I use it at a part-time position and have had no training. Self-teaching is not always the quickest, but I do eventually learn. If you want to keep track of donors, campaigns, and donations, this makes it a much easier process than no process at all or trying to coordinate spreadsheets from different programs.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry within our development department as a means of storing donor data, tracking income from individuals (donations, recurring gifts; pledges), foundations (grants), and licensing fees. We reference our data in Blackbaud eTapestry extremely frequently - to draw financial reports for accounting, to develop mailing lists/invite lists, to draft acknowledgment letters, etc. Blackbaud eTapestry has been helpful as a donor management database for us mostly.
  • Donor management
  • Reports
  • Not aesthetically pleasing or easy to use giving pages
  • No customizable tagging features
  • Lack of integrations
Blackbaud eTapestry is definitely better suited for small and budding organizations. It is a solid CRM for donor management and report pulling, but in terms of fundraising help (giving pages), integration with other platforms (income processing, email marketing, event management), and customizable features (like tagging, analytical information, etc.), it is lacking. This is not for organizations looking for totally centralized software. It is, however, great for those who are looking for their first CRM to help with keeping donor information organized and easily accessible.

We are a fairly small non-profit and use Blackbaud eTapestry to manage our database of donors and other stakeholders. This includes CRM functions such as tracking pledges and donations, accepting online donations using the built-in DIY forms, issuing tax receipts and thank-you letters, managing relationships, moves management, tracking fundraising campaigns, financial reconciliation, running queries and reports and sending mass emails. It is currently the only CRM our organization uses.
  • Offers robust query and report building
  • Intuitive interface
  • Allows for custom fields
  • I would like to see more customization options for DIY forms
  • I would like to see more mobile-friendly options for e-mail communications (e.g., thank-you letters)
  • This software is very good for fundraising relationship management, including tracking pledges, gifts, communications, meetings, thank-you letters, and stewardship reports.
  • This software has a very robust query and reports function, allowing deep dives into constituent/fundraising data and year-end reporting.
  • This software does not particularly excel at creating well-designed and mobile-friendly DIY forms (such as online donation forms) or e-mail communications -- however, we use these functions anyways as the benefit of having everything automatically tracked in the back-end is huge.

I use Blackbaud eTapestry primarily for our newsletters and thank you letters to donors. The database and personas that can be attached help us keep track of who we have been in contact with and when they have last volunteered/donated. I love the ability to add notes to a profile, but that is currently the only way I've been able to track my volunteers rather than it actually having its own tracking system.
  • Database tracking
  • Newsletter tracking
  • Mailing tracking
  • More options for newsletters: the images can't be deleted from the gallery, background images don't fill the screen
I like its ability to show how many accounts don't have email addresses or have opted out of our mailing. When printing and mailing out thank you cards, it offers the option to make a note of the contact, but since I sometimes go back and forth before officially mailing it out, it's not always accurate but could be if there was an "initiated" option and then a follow-up option that confirms the offline action was completed.
